WordPress released their newest major update, 4.7, on December 6.
Since we keep our themes very updated with the latest versions, updates for this major update were very minor.
WordPress core added some social icon styles that conflicted with the styles on our “Subscribe and Follow Widget” on our Standard WordPress themes (so all themes except Prima Donna). The icons were displaying vertically instead of horizontally. A really minor fix.
And we’ve already issued the updates!
Check your Appearance > Themes page for theme updates. They will show up within the next 12 hours depending on your update cycle. (Updates only checks once per 12 hours to save your hosting bandwidth).
So, you can update your site to WordPress 4.7 with confidence. Make sure to also update your plugins too!
What’s new with WordPress 4.7?
New Customizer experience
You’ll see some new editing shortcuts that look like blue pencils in the live preview window. When you click on these shortcuts, the appropriate area in the Customizer will open. For example in the image below you can click on the shortcut to open the Menu editor:
In future updates we will work on integrating more of these shortcuts into the Customizer panel. For now, just be aware that they’re supposed to be there!
